Welcome to Erasmus project
"Curriculum Material Development in Vocational Education Through 3D Printing"!
This 3D learning web platform is an Erasmus+ strategic partnership project outcome.
Project number: 2019-EE01--KA202-051698
If you look and work through this course, you will make a big STEP into the spectacular world of 3D printing!
Curriculum Material Development in Vocational Education Through 3D Printing Erasmus Strategic Partnership Project focuses on 3D printing as a fast-growing part of industry, IT and manufacturing. 3D printing operators and experts are currently the most demanded employees in the IT labor market. "Work and Skills 2025" report highlights that industrial modernization (3D printing, industry 4.0) encourages manufacturing industry to return to developed countries. Therefore, we, as the Project team members, strongly believe that it is important to develop vocational educators and comprehensive study materials to encourage 3D printing & technology integration into professional training.
The aim of this project is to increase the awareness of the importance of 3D printing, and establish the advanced skills of vocational specialists enabling them to develop the curriculum and contemporary study materials which support the needs of the students to become competitive in labor market.
Transnational development of the curriculum expands the international perspective of the vocational centers and therefore enables the future specialist to enter the international labor markets. As a result of strong cooperation during the project period, all partners benefited from the cooperation of the international teams. During the short-term joint staff training, project partners also transferred good practices and knowledge from each other as it was a great opportunity to meet both vocational educators from high schools and universities.
The results of the Project are:
Initially and continuously developing professional VET teachers who are competitive both at national and international labor market – 3 joint staff training were carried out with the participation of 25 teachers from different disciplines.
Future looking 3D printing technologies study materials have been designed and produced as an all-in-one 3D Printing learning platform that includes 3D Printer assembly tutorials, 3D Glossary, different lesson plans and curriculum materials, ideas and guides for Educators to integrate 3D printing into the teaching process. All of project outcomes and results are available on this website which means they are freely accessible by all.
Platform contents
3D printing Techonology - includes basic introduction of different types 3D printing technologies, basic additive manufacturing principles and also little future of 3D printing
DIY (do-it-youself) 3D printer - includes technical drawings and step-by-step instructions to make your own 3D printer.
CAD Design and Drawings - includes introduction of most widely used CAD modelling softwares (Sketchup, Solid Edge, Fusion ...etc ). Also introductions and tutorial videos how to use "slicer" programs for preparing 3D model to print in 3D printer.
Classroom materials - instructions for teachers/students to make example drawings and first printouts. Includes lesson plans and final downloadable files.
3D Dictionary - includes basic terms what are used in 3D printing world. Words are in Estonian; Turkish; Hungarian; Polish;
EXTRA- All the DIY printers that project partners have made - pictures, videos and all the observations that project partners did, when they were assembling their own 3D printers.
All videos are with English subtitles, but you can choose Estonian/Hyngarian/Turkish/Polish subtitles in the video subtitles menu!
Basic requirements for taking part in this course:
• User should have some experience with 2D/3D drawings.
• Basic knowledge of some technical words (stepper motor, filament). For that you can use our mini dictionary/glossary.
• Also you need some basic mechanical skills to assemble 3D printer kit.
• Computer to use CAD software and "slicer" programs. All minimum requirements are described in each program on downloadable page. Usually in the beginning you don't need to have so capable computer. But keep in mind - in future, when you are using professional CAD softwares, you need quite powerful computer.
The instructions and technical drawings are created in English.
3D printers are built by the partners and the work is done in collaboration between students and teachers - the methods of project work and problem solving are used. Each partner prepares its own part of webpage content and makes its own 3D printer. Difficulties and problems are solved in co-operation between the partners. The collaboration between the partners develops and improves the language skills and adds the cultural aspect to the work.
The e-study materials and technical drawings with the instructions are available for public using including all schools and organisations in EU.
Video subtitle language changing.
Impact of the project:
• Increased quality of VET education and training
• Improved social, language, intercultural competences and IT skills
• Increased synergies between the different areas of education in vocational institutions, and cooperation in international level
• Better quality in training and in teaching materials, interesting methods and variable classroom activities.
• Innovative learning materials for students.
